Hades small by jasonengle-dattd4i

Pluto Dominator, an obscure painting whose origin is unknown.

Pluto, also known as Hades, is the Maiorist god of the underworld. He is brother to Jupiter and Neptune, but he is not a member of the revered Dii Consentes. Pluto is a highly feared god in Mos Maiorum, owing to his ruling the realm of the dead, Hades. His worship is extremely uncommon in Eurasia, and while not banned outright by the College of Pontiffs is taboo and highly stigmatized. Maiorist theologians do not characterize him as a necessarily evil god, such as Orcus or Dis Pater, but his association with death and the underworld makes his worship viewed as dangerous. Alongside Orcus and Dis Pater he is a member of the Infernal Triad.

It is Maiorist practice to, when a family member dies, offer a respectful gift to Pluto to ensure the deceased passage into Elysium. However, this is the only form of worship in which most Eurasians engage. A shadowy cult known as Sons of Tartarus are said to worship Pluto, but they are believed to have been eradicated by the Penitus Oculatus in the mid 1800s. Pluto's dwelling place is said to be Tartarus, the deepest netherworld of Hades.

Pluto's wife is Prosperina, the daughter of Ceres. She was kidnapped by Pluto and given a pomegranate to eat, which trapped her in Hades. According to legend, Ceres, in her grief, neglected her godly duties of harvest and causing grain to grow, plunging the world into Winter. The eleven other Dii Consentes, in order to end the suffering of mankind, approached Pluto and struck a deal with him: Prosperina would dwell with him for half the year and with Her mother the other half. Thus, it is believed that when Prosperina is in Hades with Pluto, autumn and winter abound.
